dc.description.abstract-translatedThis paper aims to investigate the systematic differences in market power estimates between most dominate estimation approaches and to assess the determinants related to market power estimates. Meta analysis was used to estimate the impact of the assessment approach on the magnitude of market power index in the food supply chain. Using three different linear regression models, we investigated the determinants of MP estimates. We have collected the most comprehensive list of studies investigating processors’ market power index in the food supply chains. In total, in our analysis, we use 472 unique market power index estimates. Our results show that there is indeed a systematic difference between the approach used and an MP estimate. Besides the estimation approach, there is also a significant impact of the number of observations used in a study, frequency of data collection and country of interest on the market power index estimates.en
