dc.description.abstract-translatedThis paper written by a team of authors presents a project carried out at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. The project aimed at upgrading the content of Business English courses offered to undergraduate and postgraduate students studying at the Faculty of Economics. With this aim in mind, new teaching materials were introduced. At the same time, the content of courses intended for full-time students and distant students was unified and made identical. The paper describes particular steps of implementing the project, such as the choice of literature, developing weekly plans and new sets of standardized tests. Further, the paper looks into the structure of the tests including their particular parts, and also evaluates the rate of student success in final tests in the academic year 2016/17. Authors of the paper also discuss the benefits of the new teaching materials, which is Business Benchmark, in comparison with the previously used ones i.e. Profile.en
