Abstract
In this paper we are dealing with spatial structures within the barrow cemeteries of the
Bronze Age in the Pilsen-region. On the basis of analysis of formal features of barrows and
including burials we test the hypothesis, that the barrow clusters (groups) are cemeteries of
each families. As analytical tools some GIS tools, statistical tests and (PCA) were used.
We proved that the barrow size is related to its cultural identity and to the
amount of buried people. Based on PCA of the grave goods some structures have been
found out which can be identifi ed with social categories. Each barrow group contains barrows
of various sizes and social categories, this fact supports the tested hypothesis of family
cemeteries, in our opinion.
