Objavy baní v katastroch obcí bez známej rudnej banskej činnosti v pohorí Malé Karpaty
(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2011) Sládok, Matúš
In terms of the occurrence of ore resources the Small Carpathians were of a great importance in Slovakia. A systematic search helped to discover the remains of mining in the territory of three municipalities without known ore mining activity. Only exploratory mines have been found in the municipalities of Horné Orešany and Chtelnica. There was apparently also extraction in some mines in Lošonec. It is the subject of further investigation from what period the mines come from and what ore was sought or extracted in them. The territory of Horné Orešany is promising for further discoveries of mining objects.

(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2011) Šálková, Tereza
The aim of this article is notify of current macro-remain analysis in the region of South Bohemia. Macro-remains analysis is another source of interpretation of archaeological infi lls and layers and it makes possible to reconstruct palaeoeconomy of settlement areas (e.g. housing, economy, burials, ritual areas. Knowledge about crop macro-remains is necessary for the reconstruction of subsistence strategy of prehistoric populations. Macro-remains of weeds could identify character of prehistoric agriculture (planting, harvesting, processing and utilization of utility plants).

Nálezy hrotov kopijí/oštepov z doby bronzovej na Slovensku (Príspevok k výskytu zdobených kopijí)
(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2011) Ölvecky, Róbert
The paper presents an insight in the issue of spears in Bronze Age in Slovakia. The spears are considered to be the fi rst specialized weapons of old Bronze Age. There are created two big groups: adorned and unadorned spears, whereby the first one is in the principal point of our intentness. The aim was to show shape variability of spears. A special attention is paid to the typology based on the blade shape and spear profi ling. It rests on recent famous publications. There was a poor interest to elaborate these founds in past because of its time intersection and its small mutual shape differences.

Novověké polní fortifikace – možnosti studia a jejich interpretace
(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2011) Neuvirtová, Alice
The thesis is focused on documentation and identifi cation of postmedieval field fortifications. Fortifications were searched on the sheets of 1st Military Survey. There were collected 60 objects in different state of disintegration. Several analyses in GIS were aimed to fi nd out and verify the relations of the fortifi cations to the terrain. Elevation, proximity to watercourse and roads were detected. Based on the combination of diff erent sources the fortifications were dated to the War of Bavarian heritage (1778–1779), though it might be said that their strategic positions have been used in previous conflicts as well. The paper tried to determine the possibilities of cartographic sources and how much information they provide. The final conclusion is that such sources are ideal for studying the postmedieval/modern landscape. Research of the remains of field fortifications should be done with the usage of various sources. Proper research is based on the knowledge of possible written sources followed by iconography, toponomastic, cartographic and especially archaeological sources which, used in combination, aim to the best results of the research.

Revize povrchových paleolitických lokalit v okolí Brodku u Prostějova
(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2011) Mlejnek, Ondřej
In the frame of surface surveys in the surrounding of a recently excavated stratifi ed site Želeč (ŠKRDLA, Petr a MLEJNEK, Ondřej, 2010) the cadastral territories of Brodek u Prostějova, Drysice, Ondratice, Podivice, Sněhotice and Želeč have been surveyed with the aim of verifi cation of the locations of surface sites described in the archaeological literature (VALOCH, Karel, 1967; 1983). We managed to validate a location of nine known sites and other two new surface Palaeolithic sites were discovered. In the case of eight other sites mentioned in literature it was not possible to determine their location. In future we would like to focus on the area of northern vicinity of Brodek u Prostějova. Our aim will be to verifi cate locations of Palaeolithic surface sites in this area and apart from this we would like to discover some new stratified site.

(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2011) Krištuf, Petr; Praumová, Radka; Švejcar, Ondřej
In this paper we are dealing with spatial structures within the barrow cemeteries of the Bronze Age in the Pilsen-region. On the basis of analysis of formal features of barrows and including burials we test the hypothesis, that the barrow clusters (groups) are cemeteries of each families. As analytical tools some GIS tools, statistical tests and (PCA) were used. We proved that the barrow size is related to its cultural identity and to the amount of buried people. Based on PCA of the grave goods some structures have been found out which can be identifi ed with social categories. Each barrow group contains barrows of various sizes and social categories, this fact supports the tested hypothesis of family cemeteries, in our opinion.

Obrazy v kameni: příklad z vrchu Tuhošť na Švihovsku
(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2011) Chroustovský, Luboš
The presented project Images in rock investigates the role of rock features in individual and social worlds of past and contemporary societies. They are often perceived as spiritual beings/ powers, their dwelling places or products (so called pseudo-artefacts). Their ability to attract attention and stimulate the imagination has been used in imagination survey aimed to gather drawings of respondents images. This paper presents a case study focused on a lydite rock feature within prehistoric hillfort at Tuhošť near Švihov (Klatovy district, West Bohemia, fig. 1). One hundred respondents externalized 122 motifs, which were analyzed and classifi ed into interpretation categories (humans, beings, animals, natural features/artefacts). Further, structural graphic features in pictures were searched and 50% of motifs were divided into 6 graphic groups (core imaginations; figure 4). It has been shown, that also rock feature diff erent from menhir-like stones resembling figure/body (e.g. Na Špičáku near Hroznětín, see Chroustovský 2010) or without apparent anthropomorphic head/face (see footnote 10) can represent important symbolic feature.

(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2011) Hlásek, Daniel
The article presents the results of a problem called West Bohemian settlement ceramics from the Late Bronze Age. It contains the history of the research and current views on the topic. Due to the adverse natural enviroment pottery in West Bohemia is much harder to preserve. Nowadays pottery image is extremely dissimilar to the original image. Three periods were defi ned in the development of the Late Bronze Age and contents of each single periods from settlements fi nds. This pottery showns great variability of shapes and is obvious piece of the Eneolithic-Bronze age Pottery complex. Studium pozůstatků zemědělských aktivit na Drahanské vrchovině
(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2011) Čulíková, Lucie
In this paper were studied ploughlands in the Drahany Upland. Analysis and evaluation of data obtained during surface survey in the Drahany Upland provided view of character of the Middle Age ploughlands. Generally, we can observe fi elds situated in higher altitudes on slopes and prevailingly on brown soils and are often oriented to south. It was found out during monitoring of chance of erosion that these sites are endangered by water erosion but these sites are based on places relatively safe from wind erosion. Vector synthesis was used for exploring mutual relations and structures in the data set. Via this kind of testing, we were able to determine large ploughlands situated on sites suitable for agriculture and also ploughlands which are much smaller and are placed in environment not favorable for farming (e.g. steeper slopes, higher altitude, orientation of the slope in other direction than to south etc.). On the basis of these observations, we can logically conclude that larger villages were founded on sites with acceptable agricultural conditions.

Kolínsko ve starší době bronzové: možnosti zkoumání kontinuity a struktury osídlení únětické kultury
(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2011) Král, Vlastimil
The main aim of this contribution is to suggest possibilities of continuity and structure of Únětice Culture settlement by the analysis of preserved material sources from Early Bronze Age and Late Neolithic. The study is focused on district of Kolín (and some parts of Kutná Hora and Nymburk districts). There are many known material sources and localities which they have not been documented properly. It means that structural data are lost for further archaeological analysis and research. This makes our situation complicated for research on localities where is an evidence of mutual settlement of Únětice Culture with Corded Ware Culture and Bell Beaker Culture.
