| dc.description.abstract | Portugalské državy v zámoří jsou nejčastěji spojovány s Brazílií, Afrikou nebo Macaem. Původním cílem Portugalska však bylo ovládnout Indický oceán a obchod v jižní Asii. Článek představuje méně známou postavu evropských dějin – Jindřicha Mořeplavce, jehož úsilí významně přispělo k portugalské expanzi v Indickém oceánu a vytvoření prvního globálního trhu. Diskutuje též konkurenční výhody Portugalska před jinými evropskými mocnostmi a jeho silné a slabé stránky v závodě za globální ekonomickou dominancí. | cs |

At that time, Portugal was one of the most important stakeholders. It was dominating in the Indian Ocean and in the east part of the Atlantic Ocean for the whole 16th century, and thus created perhaps the first global economic system ever, which interlinked world macroregions from Europe, Africa as well as South and East Asia. | en |
