Emergency island grids with small hydro power stations
(Technical University of Košice, 2019) Bělík, Milan
This article focuses on alternative islands powered from small hydro power stations as an emergency power source for specific communities. Grids under consideration should backup regions of small communities. These areas are usually connected to main grid, but are provisionally disconnected from the grid due to some unexpected situations in the main grid. Mentioned small local grids in island mode are not capable to cover entire energy demand in the community, but it has probably the capacity to power main crucial facilities in the community (hospitals, public buildings, traffic lights, street lighting, water stations, broadcasting systems, etc.). Specific sequential coupling to or shut-off from the local grid must be defined. The main task is to discuss and define features of the local island, operating conditions, proper local power sources and particular source cooperation in dependency on the local power capacity, energy demand and duration of main grid outage. Although the complete research deals with particular types of small or distributed power sources, this article focuses mainly on hydro power plants from the category small hydro and thus utilization of adequate hydroengineering structures.

Calculation of solid particle trajectory inside electrical separator based on measured values
(University of West Bohemia, 2019) Bělík, Milan
This article discusses application of data acquisition device National Instruments NI PCI-6221 for electrical separator low cost monitoring. Results can be applicable for air protection and air pollution prevention. Measured basic electrical and environmental values are logged into a file. Further the data serve as input for calculation of solid particles trajectory inside the separator. Influence of particular quantities onto the separator operation and particle trajectory calculation is discussed. Theoretical and technical limits of used device for high voltage measurements are explained in the first part. Main part of the paper deals with calculation of the trajectory and implementation in LabVIEW environment. Influence of particular physical parameters is elaborated. Presented ideas are generalized for more complex system in last chapter.

The energy efficient solution for intelligent lighting
(IEEE, 2019) Jiřinec, Jakub; Rot, David; Velev, Raytcho
The aim of this article is to introduce the intelligent lighting control system. The created control system is able to diagnose current conditions and control the lighting system operatively to achieve the required lighting standard at minimal energy costs. The developed system will thus further reduce the energy consumption of the buildings in which it will be applied. The system was created in cooperation with Südluft Systemtechnik and will serve primarily for lighting control of commercial kitchens.

Usability assessment of mathematical models of the bathtub curve
(IEEE, 2019) Hromádka, Aleš; Martínek, Zbyněk
this paper deals with the options how to model of the Bathtub Curve and how to properly estimate failure intensity during operation time of a system. Firstly, the term "Bathtub Curve" is described. The main part is connected with the demonstration of three possible models how to correctly estimate the failure intensity during operation of a system. The main aim of this paper is to assess usefulness of all investigated models for the estimation of failure intensities.

Small hydro power plants operating as backup source in local island
(IEEE, 2019) Bělík, Milan; Noháčová, Lucie
This article deals with possible small hydro power plant operation as a backup power source for of a small local grid in island mode. Mentioned grid covers area of a small community usually connected to main grid, but temporarily disconnected from the grid due to some technical malfunctions in the main grid. The island operation should not cover complete energy demand in considered community, but it should be capable to power main crucial facilities in the community (hospitals, public buildings, traffic lights, street lighting, water stations, broadcasting systems, etc.). Specific sequential connection or disconnection to or from the island must be defined in dependency on the local power sources capacity and duration of the island operation. The main task is to discuss and define features of the local island, conditions of operation and definition of proper power sources and their cooperation. Complete research deals with different kinds of small local or distributed power sources, but this article focuses mainly on hydro power plants from the category small hydro.
