Themes about natural aesthetics, its perception and forest mythology are still interesting topics today, as well as discussion about positive effects on human health during recreation in the natural environment. A symbol of a tree has been an archetype since ancient times. It could be perceived as the World tree, the Life tree, even as a home for animistic creatures and gods. Nowadays, we can say that religion is disappearing from our lives. But, is it really true? Various believes in supernatural powers and mysticism are typical of contemporary society. The perception of mysticism and perception of the nature (forest) relate to each other. The term “spirituality” is the sense of the transcendence that can be seen in nature. It is a form of non-religious tendencies which worship nature, metaphysical connection between humans and nature. The main question of this article is, how could the perception of spirituality be described? How does our forest spirituality look like in contemporary times? The research is going to find an answer to this question using a semi-structural interview as the main method.Item Tradiční démonologické pověsti Chodska a jejich katalogizace(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2016) Dobrovolná, KateřinaThis paper presents the results of fieldwork conducted in 2011 in the Chodsko region, located in West Bohemia, Czech Republic. The fieldwork was aimed at documenting the traditional legends of the Chodsko region and cataloguing them based on the folkloristic index created by Jan Luffer (2014). Fieldwork done on the knowledge of local storytellers of traditional demonological legends was also conducted. The characteristics and classification of chosen legends of the Chodsko region according to Luffer’s index of demonological legends is also presented and divided into seven categories. The list of legends is obviously not complete, and for the purpose of cataloguing only a few well-known legends were selected. As regards methodology, semi-structured interviews were carried out with local inhabitants while other legends were taken from literature.Item Oslavy výročí Slovenského národního povstání v Banské Bystrici v roce 2016 jako legitimizační nástroj představ slovenských politiků(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2016) Naxera, Vladimír; Krčál, PetrFollowing article aims to provide interpretation of 72nd anniversary celebration of Slovak National Uprising in Banská Bystrica (Slovakia). Our paper stands as a dramaturgical and discursive analysis of this occasion. More specifically, our effort is focused on two main interpretation strains. The first interpretation strain is called “organizational line”. In this argumentation branch, we try to present the result of complex dramaturgical analysis of this occasion and also to provide an example and characteristics of strategies and practices that can be utilized by state apparatuses to create their perception as a guarantee of security of bystanders. In the second one (called “production of discourse”) we try to analyse the processes of (re)production of political discourse related to this public occasion and to Slovak National Uprising. Accordingly to this strain, we also try to identify the main discourse that was produced or reinforced during celebration. Main finding of our paper is based on fact, that public ceremonies can fulfil the role of medium that serve to spreading of actual political discourse, adoration of actual societal normative order and of positive portrait of state apparatuses. Our article thus can be viewed as a contribution to debate concerned with the issues of political discourse reproduces through public spectacles.Item Sekuritizácia zlyhávajúcich štátov v kontexte medzinárodného terorizmu(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2016) Kosárová, DominikaThis article is focused on the issue of failed states and their transition toward the security realm as a result of securitization that occurred in the USA in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The main aim of the article is to point out how failed states have been transferred into the security discourse after the 9/11. We will explore whether the link between state failure and terrorist groups forms sufficient grounds for the legitimization of extraordinary measures, such as the illiberal policy of the Bush administration that culminated in the invasion of Iraq. In addition to studying the attractiveness of ungoverned or ill-governed spaces for terrorists, this article points out the risks involved in applying the theory of securitization to the issue of failed states in the context of the global war on terror. It concludes that the connection between failed states and terrorist groups is not unconditional, and thus securitization in this context may serve other objectives than simply to reduce threats. In addition to the application of the theory of securitization, several other methods are used, including historical and analytical methods accompanied by case study and quantitative comparisons.
