Východní Afriku si lidé obvykle spojují s dovolenou na safari, pohledem na Kilimandžáro nebo plážemi na Zanzibaru. Již méně je znám fakt, že zde pramení jedna z největších zdrojnic řeky Nil. Článek přináší příběh, který vedl k vyřešení jedné z největších geografických hádanek, ale také to, jak objevitelské expedice do těchto míst a na to navazující události ovlivnily směřování moderních dějin této části Afriky.People usually associate East Africa with a safari holiday, a view of Kilimanjaro or the beaches of Zanzibar. Less known is the fact that one of the largest sources of the Nile originates here. The article tells the story that led to the solution of one of the most significant geographical puzzles, but also how the discovery expeditions to these places and the subsequent events influenced the course of the modern history of this part of Africa.
