| dc.description.abstract | Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na román The Left Hand of Darkness (česky Levá ruka tmy) od Ursuly K. Le Guinové. Cílem práce je prozkoumat vliv kulturních témat na děj díla a zhodnotit dílo z hlediska několika kulturních teorií. Práce se zaměřuje převážně na vztah dvou hlavních postav díla a to, jak jsou jejich interakce ovlivněny kulturními rozdíly. Teoretická část práce obsahuje informace o autorce a díle a uvádí autorčiny názory na témata díla a jejich důležitost pro správné chápání díla. Zároveň také popisuje tři kulturní teorie - "politeness theory", "high and low context", a "dignity/face/honour", které jsou využity k rozboru díla. Praktická část práce obsahuje rozbor dvou scén z díla, které jsou zásadní pro rozvoj vzájemného vztahu hlavních postav, a které jsou silně ovlivněny zmíněnými kulturními teoriemi. Tyto dvě scény jsou v práci podrobně rozebrány a zhodnoceny z hlediska kulturních rozdílů a mezikulturní komunikace. | cs |
| dc.description.abstract-translated | This bachelor thesis deals with the novel The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin. The goal of this thesis is to explore the influence of themes of culture on the novel and describe the novel through the framework of several cultural theories. The thesis focuses on the relationship of two main characters and how their interactions are influenced by cultural differences. The theoretical part of the thesis includes information about the author and the novel and it comments on the author's opinions on the themes of her novel and their importance for proper understadning of the novel. It also describes three cultural theories - politeness theory, high and low context, and dignity/face/honour, which are used for the analysis of the novel. The practical part of of the thesis contains the analysis of two scenes from the novel, which are essential for the development of the relationship of the main characters and which are strongly influenced by the used cultural theories. These two scenes are analysed in detail and commented on from the point of view of cultural differences and cross-cultural communication. | en |
