Milan Kundera a některé tradice německy psaného středoevropského románu

Abstract

Článek se zaměřuje na vztah mezi románovou a esejistickou tvorbou Milana Kundery a literárním dědictvím středoevropských „antimodernistických“ modernistů – Franze Kafky, Roberta Musila, Hermanna Brocha a Rainera Marii Rilkeho, kteří ztělesňují smysl pro světskost, o který Kundera vědomě usiloval. Kromě zkoumání konceptů detailu, literárního typu a zejména metafory jako specifického způsobu vnímání a chápání reality se článek zabývá problémem nové formy tzv. filozofického románu. Kontemplativní povaha této románové formy, která se polemicky zabývá určitými radikálními rysy modernismu, představuje ve světové literatuře alternativu, jejíž přitažlivost nabývá na relevantnosti v 21. století. Jako emigrant z „unesené“ střední Evropy rozvíjí Kundera v západní Evropě formy umění a myšlení, které mají potenciál vést podstatný dialog s příliš „expanzivními“ formami modernismu 20. století.

The article focuses on the relationship between Milan Kundera’s novel and essay work and the literary heritage of Central European “antimodernist” modernists – Franz Kafka, Robert Musil, Hermann Broch, and Rainer Maria Rilkes whembody the sense of worldliness that Kundera consciously sought. In addition to exploring the concepts of detail, literary type, and especially metaphor as a specific mode of perceiving and understanding reality, the article addresses the problem of a new form of the so-called philosophical novel. The contemplative nature of this novel form, which engages polemically with certaradical features of modernism, introduces an alternative into world literature – one whose appeal is gaining increasing relevance in the 21st century. As an emigrant from “abducted” Central Europe, Kundera develops forms of art and thought in Western Europe that have the potential to engage in a substantial dialogue with overly “expansionist” forms of 20th-century modernism.
