dc.description.abstractImperfect joints and their modelling in the framework of multibody systems dynamics draw the attention of many research groups worldwide. Within the contact-based approach, various joint types (rotational, translational, cylindrical, etc.) can be modelled. The ad hoc contact detection models based on the involved geometries are often used for most joint types, and a lot of effort should also be dedicated to the precise detection of contact initiation time. This brings several problems that should be addressed during the numerical solution of the multibody system dynamics. The main problems and their solutions are summarized in this paper.en
