dc.description.abstractTato bakalářská práce se zabývá životem a prací slavného anglického matematika 19. století Jamese Josepha Sylvestera. Bakalářská práce je rozdělena na čtyři kapitoly. V první kapitole jsem sepsal celý Sylvesterův život. V druhé kapitole jsem krátce shrnul Sylvesterovu práci mimo algebru. Ve třetí kapitole jsem vysvětlil a popsal, některé ze Sylvesterových matematických objevů v elementární algebře. Ve čtvrté kapitole popisuji a následně řeším pár matematických problémů a úloh, které Sylvester sám navrhl.cs
dc.description.abstract-translatedThis bachelor's thesis deals with the life and work of the famous English mathematician of the 19th century, James Joseph Sylvester. The bachelor thesis is divided into four chapters. In the first chapter I wrote down the whole life of Sylvester. In the second chapter, I briefly summarized Sylvester's work outside of algebra. In the third chapter I explained and described some of Sylvester's mathematical discoveries in elementary algebra. In the fourth chapter, I describe and then solve a few mathematical problems and tasks that Sylvester himself proposed.en
