Abstract
This work is motivated by the need to develop efficient computational modeling approaches for soft tissues, including the prediction of their damage and fracture during cutting. In our previous study, we demonstrated that a particle dynamics formulation with nonlinear springs can reproduce pressure tests on salmon tissue, although it lacked controlled volume preservation. In the present work, we extend this simulation framework by incorporating common constitutive models, enabling more accurate representations of soft materials. The proposed approach is validated against analytical solutions for uniaxial strain and benchmark results from finite element analysis. Finally, we discuss the potential of the method as a foundation for digital twins in applications involving deformable materials.
