Barokně-jazzový crossover v Rudolfinu

Abstract

V rámci abonentního cyklu Nové horizonty Symfonického orchestru Českého rozhlasu v Praze se konal 15. října 2023 v Rudolfinu koncert zmíněného orchestru s jazzovým pianistou a skladatelem Bradem Mehldauem. Zazněly na něm jak jeho improvizace k několika novějším instrumentacím hudby Johana Sebastiana Bacha, tak jeho Koncert pro klavír a orchestr. Dirigentem večera byl Clark Rundell, představivší se též jako aranžér jedné z Bachových skladeb. Koncert z hudby na pomezí mezi jazzem a klasikou navštívilo početné publikum, které citlivě reagovalo především na kreace jazzového pianisty. Na konci koncertu zaznělo pět jeho sólových přídavků z oblasti tradičního jazzu.As part of the New Horizons subscription series of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, a concert of the above-mentioned orchestra with jazz pianist and composer Brad Mehldau took place at the Rudolfinum on 15 October 2023. The concert featured his improvisations on several newer instrumentations of Johann Sebastian Bach's music as well as his Concerto for Piano and Orchestra. The conductor of the evening was Clark Rundell, who also introduced himself as the arranger of one of Bach's compositions. The concert of music on the border between jazz and classical was attended by a large audience, which was particularly responsive to the creations of the jazz pianist. At the end of the concert, five of his solo encores from traditional jazz were performed.
