This paper discusses the analogies between the mainstream theory of human mind and the two broad paradigms that are employed when building artificial intelligence systems. Then it ponders the idea how those analogies could be utilized in building a truly explainable artificial intelligence (AI) applications. The core part is devoted to the problem of unwanted rationalization that could disguise the true reasons lying behind the decisions of the explainable AI systems.en
