dc.description.abstract-translatedWe conduct a comparative analysis of development of inflation in the Visegrad 4 countries (Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland) from 2014 to 2023. Food price inflation has a significant impact on welfare of consumers. The paper focuses on the significant rise of consumer prices after 2020 year. The growth of food prices was unequal in the Visegrad 4 countries, which is measured by the development of the Price Level Index. We relate food price inflation to incomes, policies, regulations, and structure and sizes of agricultural and food markets and their openness.en
