| dc.description.abstract | Na jaře 2024 vydalo nakladatelství Argo autobiografický román Jehovista, který na více než 400 stranách pojednává o obtížném odchodu z náboženské komunity. Pod pseudonymem Martin Sodoma se skrývají dva spoluautoři – Ivan Sobička a já. Časosběrný román odehrávající se v nultých letech 21. století je intimním pohledem do komunity svědků Jehovových v České republice prostřednictvím příběhu mladého muže, jehož cesta k vnitřní svobodě nabere dramatický spád. Ota, čtyřiadvacetiletý syn jednoho z předních svědků Jehovových v České republice, cestuje do Aše, aby posílil věřící v místním sboru. Zpočátku je ve svém úsilí úspěšný – proniká do jeho zvláštního prostředí, přesvědčuje ostatní věřící a je okouzlen pohraniční divočinou. Stále více ho však pronásledují potlačované pochybnosti a výčitky svědomí vyplývající z toho, že před lety zavrhl svého nejlepšího přítele, který byl z organizace vyloučen. Ocitá se na pokraji temnoty. Na této konferenci bych rád hovořil o hlavním tématu naší knihy – o extrémní situaci, v níž se odcházející člen svědků Jehovových musí téměř doslova rozhodnout mezi „svobodou“ a „domovem“. Budu také hovořit o silných reakcích, které kniha vyvolala. A mezitím zmíním, jak vypadá psaní románu autorským duem a jaké to je, když se animátor poprvé vyjadřuje prostřednictvím psaného slova. | cs |
| dc.description.abstract-translated | In spring 2024 the Argo publishing house issued the autobiographical novel Jehovista [Jehovah’s Witness], which in over 400 pages looks at the difficulties involved in leaving a religious community. Behind the pseudonym Martin Sodoma are two co-authors – Ivan Sobička and myself. The novel, which takes place over a period of time in the first decade of the 21st century, provides an intimate view of the community of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Czech Republic via the story of a young man whose journey towards inner freedom takes on a dramatic turn. Ota, the twenty-four-year-old son of one of the leading Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Czech Republic, is on his way to the town of Aš in order to strengthen the local congregation there. To begin with he is successful in his attempt – he penetrates their peculiar environment, wins over the other believers and is enchanted by the wild borderland countryside. More and more, however, he finds himself dogged by suppressed doubts and pangs of conscience over the fact that years ago he abandoned his best friend, who was expelled from the organisation. He finds himself on the edge of darkness. At this conference I would like to talk about the main subject of our book – the extreme situation in which a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses who is leaving has to decide almost literally between “freedom” and “home”. I will also talk about the strong reactions that the book provoked. These issues will be interleaved with reflections on what it is like to write a book as an authorial duo and what happens when an animated filmmaker expresses himself for the first time through the written word. | en |
