dc.description.abstractPředkládaná diplomová práce si vzala za cíl zmapovat skrytou rivalitu mezi Velkou Británií a Francií v otázce Španělska v letech 1833-1846. Ani jedné z nich nebylo dění ve Španělsku lhostejné a rozhodly se podporovat regentskou vládu Marie Kristýny, která vláda v době nezletilosti infantky Isabely. Společně se Španělskem a Portugalskem uzavřely 22. dubna 1834 Alianci čtyř, ve které se zavázaly ke kolektivní snaze o vypuzení pretendenta Dona Carlose ze Španělska. Britsko-francouzské spojenectví v této věci neslo charakter spíše vzájemného soupeření o rozhodující vliv v Madridu, a právě podstata jejich rozporuplného vztahu je předmětem zájmu předkládané diplomové práce. Snahy o účelové překonání vzájemného antagonismu obě země provázely po celou dobu trvání první karlistické války a nevymizely ani po jejím skončení. Ačkoli byla Aliance čtyř skutečným přínosem pro španělskou liberální vládu a výrazně jí dopomohla k vítězství nad karlisty, vzájemné vztahy Velké Británie s Francií spíše oslabila. Jejich gradující spory se následně naplno projevily ve 40. letech 19. století v otázce výběru manželů pro španělskou královnu Isabelu II. a její mladší sestru Luisu Fernandu.cs
dc.description.abstract-translatedThe thesis presented took aim at charting the hidden rivalry between the Great Britain and France over Spain in 1833-1846. Neither of them was indifferent to what was happening in Spain, and they chose to support the Regent government of Maria Christine, which government at the time of infant Isabella's underage. Together with Spain and Portugal, they concluded the Quadruple Alliance on April 22, 1834, in which they pledged a collective effort to expel Pretendent Don Carlos from Spain. The British-French alliance in this matter bore the character of more of a competition for decisive influence in Madrid, and it is the nature of their contradictory relationship that is the subject of the thesis presented. Efforts to purposefully overcome mutual antagonism have been accompanied by both countries throughout the first Carlist War, and have not disappeared even after it is over. Although the Quadruple Alliance has been a real asset to Spain's Liberal government and has greatly helped it win over the Carlists, it has rather weakened Britain's relations with France. Their graduating feuds subsequently became fully apparent in the 1840s on the question of choosing husbands for Queen Isabel II of Spain and her younger sister, Luisa Fernanda.en
