dc.description.abstractBakalářská práce podává ucelený pohled na život a dílo prof. MUDr. Karla Rašky, DrSc. Byl přínosem pro vědu a medicínu, protože ve 20. století zabránil šíření mnoha epidemií. Podstatná část práce se zabývá pravými neštovicemi. Jednalo se o smrtelnou nemoc, kterou se bezúspěšně pokoušelo eradikovat WHO. To se podařilo až Karlu Raškovi roku 1977 poté, co zavedl metodu surveillance. Tato metoda mu zajistila respekt od členů světové vědecké komunity a řadu ocenění, o nichž se lze v práci dočíst. Oproti tomu měl Karel Raška problémy s čelními přestaviteli komunistického režimu, jenž panoval v ČSR. Následkem toho byl Karel Raška odvolán ze služeb WHO zpět do vlasti, kde již nikdy nemohl působit jako vědec, ani jako lékař. Dobový kontext je zohledňován v celé práci.cs
dc.description.abstract-translatedMy bachelor?s thesis says about the life and the work of prof. MUDr. Karel Raška, DrSc. He was very significant man for science and medicine too, because in the 20th century he prevented spread of most epidemics. The significant part of my bachelor?s thesis deals with the variola. It was a fatal disease, which WHO tried to eradicate but unsuccessfully. In 1977 Karel Raška was the first man, who did it, after he introduced the method of surveillance. This method provided him a respect of all members of the World scientific community and many valuations, which are mentioned in this thesis. Contrast to this Karel Raška had lots of problems with the leaders of the communist regime, which domineered in the Republic of Czechoslovakia. Due to this Karel Raška was revoked from the WHO´s services back to the country, in which he could never worked as a scientist or as a doctor. The contemporary context is accounted the whole bachelor?s thesis.en
