Abstract

Anton Schott (1866-1945) ist ein vergessener deutscher Autor des Böhmerwaldes. Er war zu seiner Zeit sehr beliebt - er schrieb lesenswerte ländliche Romane und Erzählungen aus dem Böhmerwald. Im Stil der Heimatliteratur zeigt er dem Leser das harte Leben der Bergbewohner und gleichzeitig die Schönheit der Bergnatur. Die Handlung seiner Prosa ist verwickelt, die Texte sind spannend (Betrüge, Morde) und voller Emotionen (unglückliche Liebe). Schott siedelt seine Geschichten entweder in der Gegenwart an oder greift Themen aus der Geschichte auf - er behandelt zum Beispiel das Schicksal der Choden oder der Künischen Freibauern. In einigen seiner Werke schildert er auch Konflikte zwischen Tschechen und Deutschen im Grenzgebiet. Seine Herangehensweise an das Thema ist manchmal nationalistisch geprägt. Seine Texte sind epigonal - sie folgen wichtigen Vertretern der Heimat- und Grenzlandliteratur (F. Mauthner, H. Strobl, P. Rossegger) und dem großen Autor der Böhmerwaldliteratur A. Stifter. Ve své době byl velmi populární - psal čtivé venkovské romány a povídky ze Šumavy. Ve stylu literatury domoviny (Heimatliteratur) seznamuje čtenáře s těžkým životem horalů a zároveň s krásou horské přírody. Děj jeho próz je spletitý, texty jsou napínavé (v povídkách nechybí vraždy) a plné emocí (častým tématem je nešťastná láska). Schott zasazuje své příběhy buď do současnosti, nebo čerpá náměty z historie - zabývá se například osudy Chodů nebo Králováků. V některých svých dílech zobrazuje také konflikty mezi Čechy a Němci v pohraničí. Jeho přístup k problematice je v některých případech nacionalistický. Jeho texty jsou epigonální - navazují na významné představitele venkovské literatury (Heimatliteratur) a literatury pohraničí (Grenzlandliteratur) (F. Mauthner, H. Strobl, P. Rossegger) a velkého autora šumavské literatury A. Stiftera. Článek si klade za cíl představit čtenářům tohoto neznámého autora - zaměřuje se na jeho život a dílo, zejména na zobrazování národnostní problematiky v jeho díle.Anton Schott (1866-1945) is one of the forgotten German authors of Šumava. He was very popular in his time - he wrote readable rural novels and stories from the Šumava region. In the style of rural literature (Heimatliteratur), readers familiarize themselves with the hard life of the mountain dwellers and at the same time with the beauty of the mountain nature. The plot of his prose is intricate, the texts are suspenseful (murders are not lacking in the stories) and full of emotions (unhappy love is a frequent theme). Schott sets his stories either in the present or draws themes from history – for example, he deals with the fate of the Chods (the ethnic group living in the area around the towns of Domažlice, Tachov and Přimda) or the Králováci (settlers of the Šumava region, mostly of German nationality). In some of his works, he also depicts conflicts between Czechs and Germans in the borderlands. His approach to the issues is often nationalistic. His texts are epigonal – they follow the outstanding representatives of rural literature (Heimatliteratur) and borderland literature (Grenzlandliteratur) (F. Mauthner, K. H. Strobl, P. Rosegger) and the great author of the Šumava literature A. Stifter. The article aims at introducing this unknown author to the reader – it focuses on his life and work, especially on the depiction of national issues in his work.
