Abstract
Near field probes are widely used in the EMI troubleshooting process. Simple design of probes makes them more accessible to everyone, thus providing a common troubleshooting tool. In case of using two magnetic field probes, where one is used as a receiver and the other as a transmitter, a shielding effectiveness (SE) measurement can be performed. The problem with probe design begins at higher frequencies where it behaves as loop antenna. This can be avoided by reducing the size of the loop however, the measured area will be reduced in the same way. This paper is proposing a new magnetic near field probe design to achieve higher frequencies without lowering the measured area and therefore without the reduction of the sensitivity of the probe.
