Abstract
In Kafka's work, we see two contradictory movements. In one case, life and literature are in cooperation. Not only that, but behind many lines, we feel Kafka's laughter, playfulness, and the joy of being in command of words. In the other case, Kafka needs to separate himself from the world and his daily existence to close himself off. Without this outlet, he could neither live nor write. These levels are woven together in his work, forming a whole that the reader holds in his hand. It is this dynamic between the spheres that we refer to as Kafka by day and Kafka by night. We understand Kafka's creative activity, i.e. writing, as the result of this struggle.
