Dance between Gesture, Experience, and Articulation in the Philosophical Contexts of José Gil and Susanne K. Langer

Abstract

The study explores the aesthetic theme of dance as a potential language. It examines how dance can express complex meanings and emotions beyond traditional linguistic structures. Drawing on José Gil, who sees dance as a continuous flow of energy, and Susanne Langer, who interprets it as symbolic language of human feelings, the study analyzes the works of choreographers such as Pina Bausch, Isadora Duncan, Marlene Monteiro Freitas, and Germaine Acogny. Combining philosophy and practice, it aims to show dance as a full-fledged language in contemporary aesthetics.

Studie se zabývá estetikou tance jako možného jazyka. Ukazuje, že tanec dokáže vyjadřovat složité významy a emoce mimo tradiční jazykové struktury. Vychází z myšlenek Josého Gila, který chápe tanec jako nepřetržitý proud energie, a Susanne Langerové, jež ho považuje za symbolický jazyk lidských pocitů. Analýza zahrnuje dílo choreografek a tanečnic, jako jsou Pina Bausch, Isadora Duncan, Marlene Monteiro Freitas a Germaine Acogny. Spojením filosofické reflexe a praktického zkoumání chce studie přispět k diskusi o tanci jako plnohodnotném jazyce v současné estetice.
