Abstract
Poslední květnová neděle večer patřila na Pražském jaru varhannímu recitálu Lotyšky Ivety Apkalny. Do svého programu vybrala původní skladby i transkripce od Johanna Sebastiana Bacha, Franze Liszta, Johannesa Brahmse, Léona Boëllmanna, Petra Ebena či lotyšského soudobého autora Péterise Vaskse.
The last Sunday evening in May at the Prague Spring Festival belonged to the organ recital of the Latvian Iveta Apkalny. Her programme included original compositions and transcriptions by Johann Sebastian Bach, Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms, Léon Boëllmann, Peter Eben and Latvian contemporary composer Péteris Vasks. She played on the technically updated organ in the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House in Prague, whose visual appearance was returned to its original version in the 1990s. The large audience applauded thunderously after each piece and rose to its feet at the end to applause. Iveta Apkalna repaid the audience for their expressed sympathy with a brilliant encore.
