dc.description.abstractTématem bakalářské práce je podání charakteristiky etické teorie Johna Stuarta Milla. Hlavním bodem je zde prezentace utilitarismu, jako filosofického směru, pro nějž je stěžejní dosažení co největšího štěstí, pro co největší počet lidí. V rámci této práce bude představen Millův kvalitativní utilitarismus, jakožto odkloněná verze Benthamova kvantitativního utilitarismu. Důležitým prvkem jeho filosofie bylo nadčasové téma lidské svobody a stanovení hranic svobody. Tudíž, je další část této práce věnována jeho pojetí občanské svobody. Pro Milla jakožto zastánce liberalismu je svoboda aspekt nebytný pro lidský život a úzce souvisí s možností kultivace osobnosti a tím i s pokrokem společnosti.cs
dc.description.abstract-translatedThe subject of this bachelor thesis is the presentation of John Stuart Mill's ethics theory. The main point here is the presentation of utilitarianism, as a philosophical direction, for which the greatest possible happiness is the greatest achievement for as many people as possible. This work will introduce Mill's qualitative utilitarianism as a divergent version of Bentham's quantitative utilitarianism. The important element of his philosophy was the timeless theme of human freedom and its limitation. Therefore, another part of this work is devoted to his concept of civil liberty. For Mill, as a proponent of liberalism, freedom is an aspect essential to human life and is closely related to the possibility of cultivating the personality and thus the progress of society.en
