The main problem addressed in this article is high tonality of noise emitted by conventional pulsewidth modulation (PWM) controlled drives. We propose to use an explicit model of the transfer function from the electric variables to the sound pressure with experimentally identified parameters. This model is then used to include acoustic quality into the cost function of the finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC). Specifically, we propose to penalize the sound pressure resonant frequencies in the spectrum of the direct flux component of the stator current vector. We study the impact of this penalization on acoustic properties of the drive measured by the sound pressure level and spectral flatness measure on three experimental induction machine (IM) drives of different power and acoustic environment. In comparison with the conventional PWM, random PWM, and FCS-MPC techniques, the proposed approach improves the tonality of the noise in terms of spectral flatness and in high-speed regimes it also improves total sound pressure level by several decibel.Item Review of time and space harmonics in multi-phase induction machine(MDPI, 2020) Kindl, Vladimír; Čermák, Radek; Ferková, Želmíra; Skala, BohumilModern multiphase electric machines take advantage of additional degrees of freedom for various purposes, including harmonic current injection to increase torque per ampere. This new approach introduces a non-sinusoidal air gap flux density distribution causing additional technical problems and so the conventional assumptions need to be revised. The paper presents a methodology for synthesis of air gap magnetic field generated by a symmetrically distributed multiphase windings including the rotor field reaction due to the machine’s load. The proposed method is suitable either for single-layer or double layer windings and can be adopted either for full-pitched or chorded winding including slots e ects. The article analyses the air gap flux density harmonic content and formulates conclusions important to multiphase induction motors. It also discusses e ects of time harmonic currents and illustrates the principle of changing number of pole-pairs typical for harmonic currents being injected to increase torque.Item Sensorless control strategy of cooler for reduction dimensions and operating characteristic improvement in double three-phase inverter(Springer, 2020) Zavřel, Martin; Kindl, Vladimír; Pechánek, Roman; Franc, JiříThe paper deals with the construction design, thermal simulation analysis and cooler control proposal of double three-phase inverter suitable for electric vehicles. It gives a discussion on basic mechanical design and electric topology, both having strong influence on electrothermal operability. The paper also presents the thermal analyses of the converter operated at specified loading profile and gives control possibilities. Finally, the paper presents the cooler control design and demonstrates its functionality. It briefly elaborates design process relating to the system configuration, material used for construction and obtained operational conditions.
