In tendering, the price calculation is based on the preliminary design of the transformer. Due to the complexity of this task, it belongs to the most general branch of discrete, non-linear mathematical optimization problems. Most of the published algorithms are using a copper filling factor based winding model to calculate the main dimensions of the transformer during this first, preliminary design step. Therefore, these cost optimization methods are not considering the detailed winding layout and the conductor dimensions. However, the knowledge of the exact conductor dimensions is essential to calculate the thermal behaviour of the windings and make a more accurate stray loss calculation. The paper presents a novel, evolutionary algorithm-based transformer optimization method which can determine the optimal conductor shape for the windings during this examined preliminary design stage. The accuracy of the presented FEM method was tested on an existing transformer design. Then the results of the proposed optimization method have been compared with a validated transformer design optimization algorithm.Item Comparison of simplified techniques for solving selected coupled electroheat problems(Emerald, 2020) Pánek, David; Karban, Pavel; Orosz, Tamás; Doležel, IvoPurpose – The purpose of this paper is to compare different reduced-order models for models of control of induction brazing process. In the presented application, the problem is to reconstruct temperature at the points of interests (hot spots) from information measured at accessible places. Design/methodology/approach – The paper describes the process of induction brazing. It presents the full field model and evaluates the possibilities for obtaining reduced models for temperature estimation. The primary attention is paid to the model based on proper orthogonal decomposition (POD). Findings – The paper shows that for the given application, it is possible to find low-order estimator. In the examined linear case, the best estimator was created using POD reduced model together with the linear Kalman filter. Research limitations/implications – The authors are aware of two main limitations of the presented study: material properties are considered linear, which is not a completely realistic assumption. However, if strong coupling and nonlinear material parameters are considered, the model becomes unsolvable. The process and measurement uncertainties are not considered. Originality/value – The paper deals with POD of multi-physics 3D application of induction brazing. The paper compares 11 different methods for temperature estimator design.Item Induction-assisted laser welding taking into account phase changes(Emerald, 2019) Kotlan, Václav; Hamar, Roman; Smolyanov, Ivan Alexandrovich; Doležel, IvoItem Applicability and comparison of surrogate techniques for modeling of selected heating problems(Elsevier, 2019) Pavlíček, Karel; Kotlan, Václav; Doležel, IvoItem Modified Tellegen Principle Used for Power and Energy Systems Modeling(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2019) Štork, Milan; Mayer, Daniel; Pinker, JiříItem RLC Ladder Oscillators Controlled by Energy Approach(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2018) Štork, Milan; Mayer, Daniel; Pinker, JiříItem Generalized tellegen principle used for energy method for systems modeling(Západočeská univerzita v Plzni, 2016) Štork, Milan; Mayer, Daniel; Hrušák, Josef; Pinker, JiříItem Calibration of numerical model of magnetic induction brazing(IEEE, 2019) Pánek, David; Karban, Pavel; Doležel, IvoItem Model of depositing layer on cylindrical surface produced by induction-assisted laser cladding process(De Gruyter, 2017) Kotlan, Václav; Hamar, Roman; Pánek, David; Doležel, IvoItem Harmonic and pulsed eddy current testing methods as tools for surface and subsurface defect evaluation(De Gruyter Open, 2018) Behúň, Lukáš; Slobodník, KarelItem Numerical solution of electroheat problems with time-varying geometries(Wydawnictwo SIGMA, 2018) Doležel, Ivo; Kotlan, Václav; Hamar, Roman; Pánek, DavidItem Electromagnetic radiation efficiency of body-implanted devices(American Physical Society, 2018) Nikolayev, Denys; Zhadobov, Maxim; Karban, Pavel; Sauleau, RonanItem Hybrid realization of fillet weld(Emerald, 2018) Kotlan, Václav; Hamar, Roman; Šroubová, Lenka; Doležel, IvoItem Model of induction brazing of nonmagnetic metals using model order reduction approach(Emerald, 2018) Karban, Pavel; Pánek, David; Doležel, Ivo
