    Renewable energy sources are becoming more prominent in securing the energy needs of mankind. Increasing share of renewable distributed electricity sources is one of possibilities how to cover growth of electricity consumption. So far, these sources have insignificant contribution in energy balance in Slovakia. Interest of investors in sources installing is very intensive and reaches some GW. This article is focused to possibilities of modelling of operation of distributed energy sources.

    Impact of the renewable energy sources on long-term dynamic in the Slovak power system

    This paper discuss about long-term dynamics simplified model of the power system. This model represents Slovak power system connected trough inter-tie line to interconnected power system – ENTSO-E. The Slovak power system itself is represented by node SEPS. To this node conventional and renewable energy sources are connected. The significant growth of installed power capacity of renewable energy sources (RES) in the last few years may cause incidental disturbance of power balance in the power system. This problem is typical for photovoltaic power stations. It is very hard to predict photovoltaic (PV) power production especially during cloudy weather conditions. Because of this fact it is very important to determine maximum share of RES in each power system. This paper deals with impact of PV in power system.

    Influence of photovoltaic power system on environment in the Czech Republic

    This paper describes the potential impacts of photovoltaic power plants on environment in the Czech Republic. In the first part is evaluated an analysis of a life cycle of photovoltaic modules by means of CLM method’s. Next there are describes effect on landscape character, built up area and impact of photovoltaic power plants on the environmental during their operation. The finish part deals with the recycling method and with the influence of semiconductor on people.

    Voltage control of distribution networks with photovoltaic power sources

    This paper deals with voltage control of distribution networks with high representation of photovoltaic power sources. To simulate this, modified IEEE 123-bus radial power system has been equipped with time-dependent loads and generations from PV power plants to include various loading and voltage scenarios of the system. For voltage control, operations of load tap-changing transformers (LTCs) connected to both HV and MV voltage levels have been simulated using traditional Gauss-Seidel method. Multiple load flow calculations along with voltage control algorithms for LTCs were performed in Matlab environment.

    Simplified assessment of connectivity of photovoltaic power plants in the low voltage networks

    This paper deals with simplified computing of connectivity of photovoltaic power plants in the lowvoltage networks, describes possibilities of the connection of one or more different power plants in three, two, or one phase. In our case it is computed the voltage change from all the PVP connected to the same network. The results from this paper can help to faster assessment of possibilities of connection the new renewable energy sources.

    Fire risks of photovoltaic systems

    This article deals with fire risks of photovoltaic systems mounted on buildings and roofs. The aim of the article is to explain the fire progress in building, fire rating and performance of photovoltaic system and possible ways of extinguishing. Specific dangers for acting fire units are described in detail. The article is also targeting on secondary hazards for surrounding objects and people during and after the fire.

    Some results from research and development of thin-film photovoltaic cells

    The current predominate photovoltaic (abbr PV) technology is based on the crystalline silicon (c- Si). Unfortunately the PV cells created by the c-Si have few disadvantages. Therefore, the researchers worldwide are developing an alternative material in effort to improve the PV cells performances. The thin-film materials offer promising alternative to the c-Si technology. The thin films are base of the PV 2nd and 3rd generation. The properties of these cells are very largely determined by properties of the thin-film materials. For this reason, it is absolutely necessary to deal with their detection. This paper is concerned with some of the experimental methods used in the research and development of the thin-film generation and with some results of this research. The first part is very shortly introduction to problematic of the thin-film PV cells. The second part of paper discusses one of specific experimental methods, with which we can meet in research and development of PV cells 2nd and 3rd generation – X-Ray diffraction. The last part presents some results from this method.
