| dc.description.abstract | Předmětem bakalářské práce je představit období před Občanskou válkou v Americe, kdy otroctví bylo v mnoha státech považováno za legální. Práce je rozdělena do šesti kapitol, z nichž každá je věnována jiné specifické oblasti života otroků. První kapitola popisuje vznik otroctví a jeho rozšíření do Nového světa. Ve druhé kapitole jsou zdůrazněny rozdíly mezi pojetím mužského a ženského otroctví, postoj bílých otrokářů k otázce ženskosti a mateřství černých otrokyň. Kapitola se dále věnuje komparaci černých otroků a domorodých obyvatel Ameriky a zároveň porovnává otroky násilně přivezené z Afriky s těmi, kteří se v Americe pak narodili. Následující kapitola seznamuje čtenáře s vnitřním uspořádáním černošské komunity. Další kapitola poskytuje informace o úrovni lékařství a znalostech přírodní medicíny v období před Občanskou válkou. V páté kapitole je popsána především tvrdá práce otroků, prostředí, ve kterém žili a způsoby, jakými si snažili zpestřit své každodenní útrapy. Poslední kapitola rozebírá metody, kterými se černoši snažili projevit odpor vůči svým bílým otrokářům. Na závěr práce jsou pak shrnuty a hodnoceny jednotlivé dosažené poznatky. | cs |
| dc.description.abstract-translated | The object of the undergraduate thesis is to cover the period of time before the Civil War, also known as the antebellum period in American studies. It was the time when the slave trade thrived and slavery was legal in many states. The thesis is separated into six main sections. The first section called The Development of Slavery demonstrates the formation of slavery and its process of expansion to New World. In the second section of the thesis that is called Racial Inequality there are emphasized the differences between male and female conception of slavery, approach the white men to black womanliness and motherhood, variances of black slaves versus Native Americans, and also dissimilarities between black people born in Africa and America. The third section called Family acquaints the readers with the organization within the black family, with the suffering of black women during their pregnancy. The fourth section Medical Care provides some information about the level of medicine during the antebellum period and about knowledge of nature of black women. In the fifth section Everyday Life there is described the hard work of slaves, their way of making their lives easier thanks to mainly secret parties they organized. The final section Resistance is concerned with the methods the black slaves used to take revenge on the white masters for their vicious treatment. Eventually, in the conclusion there is the summarization of the whole thesis including the result of the thesis and of the whole research. | en |
