dc.description.abstract-translatedPilsen bell foundry has been a documented feature of the history of the city of Pilsen for more than half a millennium. The 15th century brought the first known Pilsen bell-maker, Master Jilji, the 16th century brought several masters, and it was only at the beginning of the 18th century that the almost three-century-long tradition of the Perner family of bell-makers began in Pilsen, which was interrupted only by the communist nationalization of private companies. Nevertheless, the Perner tradition persists in the members of the České Budějovice-Passau branch of the family.en
