dc.description.abstractTato práce si klade za cíl popsat jakým způsobem docházelo v Evropě ke vzniku moderních národů, jejich tendenci k vlastnímu sebeurčení a realizaci ve vlastním státě. Hlavní důraz je zde kladen na modernizační teorii vzniku národů a nacionalismu a jednoho z jejích čelních představitelů Ernesta Gellnera. Dále pak také na popis podmínek pro vznik národních hnutí jako nositelů národní myšlenky. Druhá část této práce se pak věnuje příkladu využití práva na sebeurčení v období 1. světové války a to příkladu vzniku samostatného československého státu. Zde popisuji průběh jeho boje za vlastní sebeurčení v průběhu války a těsně po ní, včetně jeho působení na pařížské mírové konferenci, kde byl koncept práva národů na sebeurčení poprvé použit jako legitimní politický princip.cs
dc.description.abstract-translatedThe aim of this thesis is to describe the formation of modern nations in Europe, their tendency to self-determination and self-realization in their own state. In the first part of the thesis the emphasis is mainly on the modernisation theory of the nations and nationalism (here, the author relies mainly on the work of one of the leading representatives of this theory Ernest Gellner). The first part also describes the conditions necessary for the emergence of national movements as bearers of the national idea. The second part of the thesis deals with a specific example of the use of the right to self-determination, which is the formation of the independent Czechoslovak state. Here, the author describes the course of the struggle of the nascent Czechoslovak state for their own self-determination during the First World War and just after it, including its participation in the Paris Peace Conference, where the concept of the right of nations to self-determination was first used as a legitimate political principle.en
