dc.description.abstract-translatedRecognition is a well-established and widely used means of evidence which, in the case of eyewitness testimony, tends to provide crucial, and often the only, incriminating evidence related to the identity of the perpetrator. Due to its complexity and unrepeatability, its performance is subject to considerable requirements, and failure to comply with them may result in the absolute or relative ineffectiveness of the evidence. The appropriateness of the type of recognition chosen is one of the aspects that may have a key influence on the credibility of the results of the recognition. However, in view of the interdisciplinary nature of this issue and the impossibility of its satisfactory resolution with knowledge of criminal law alone, this question remains overlooked by most experts. This paper aims, within the limits of its scope, to highlight the contradictory conclusions of the latest research, in some cases, contradictory conclusions of the latest research in addition to the basic characteristics of recognition and evaluation of the suitability of its types for specific age groups.en
