| dc.description.abstract-translated | This paper explores the godparentship in East Slovak countryside, and its interrelationship with the concept of family, kinship, and ethnicity. The godparetnship in East Slovak countryside is the base for the transformation biogenetically constituted family to the socially constituted family. In this view kinship is rather the matter of identity, and godparetship is in the context of “rodzinkárstvo” the matter of alliance. The godparetnship has also very good potential for the integration of Roma people in local community, but these relationships contribute paradoxically to ethnical perception of these people. | en |
