dc.description.abstract-translatedIn the course of this study, monofilament poly(caprolactone-co-glycolide) copolymer sutures (PCGL) were exposed to doses of 1 kGy, 25 kGy and 50 kGy. The objective of this study was to verify the hypothesis that irradiation can accelerate the degradation processes of the suture. The sutures were tested using tensile tests in a dry state and after 14 days in phosphate buffer (pH 7). In addition, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis were performed. This study is merely a contribution to a more extensive research project on suture materials.en
