dc.description.abstract-translatedThe paper deals the issue of exchanging damaged euro banknotes at national central banks, focusing on the eligibility requirements and legal conditions under which such banknotes can be exchanged. The legal framework for this process is shaped by European Central Bank (ECB) decision, which establishs criteria also for cases where euro banknotes are damaged below 50% of their original size. Through an analysis of EU law and relevant national practices, the paper explores how these rules are designed to protect the integrity of the euro currency and to maintain consistency in the exchange process. The article concludes with recommendations for a clearer procedural framework that balances user rights with the protection of monetary security in the Eurozone.en
