| dc.description.abstract-translated | This review study examines the principles, development, and applications of simulation metamodelling with a particular focus on artificial neural networks (ANNs) as an effective tool for simplifying complex simulations. The paper provides a comprehensive overview of metamodelling approaches, including traditional regression methods and modern ANN-based techniques. It analyses the historical development of simulation metamodelling globally and at the University of Žilina, outlines the mathematical principles underlying metamodels, and identifies their advantages and limitations. Special attention is given to ANNs as a progressive approach to metamodelling, highlighting their ability to process large datasets, model non-linear relationships, and adapt to changing conditions. The findings suggest that while traditional simulation metamodelling offers significant benefits for system analysis and optimisation, ANNs represent a particularly promising direction for future development, especially in complex manufacturing environments requiring real-time adaptability and handling of large datasets. | en |
