dc.description.abstractTato diplomová práce se soustředí na překlad matematického pramene z konce 16. století z francouzsštiny do češtiny. Jedná se o první knihu textu Simona Stevina (nizozemský vědec a inženýr narozený v Brugách; 1548 1620) L´Arithmétique. Ta je pojata jako učebnice aritmetiky a algebry. Obsahuje tedy definice základních pojmů, znaků a symbolů společně s jejich vysvětlením. Simon Stevin definoval aritmetická a geometrická čísla, demonstroval je na geometrických útvarech. Uvažoval rovněž nad jejich vlastnosmi. Jádro práce proto začíná úvahou o počátku a látce (myšleno aristotelsky) čísla. Tím si chtěl připravit půdu k dalším úvahám a k tomu, aby mohl začít s popisem a vysvětlením aritmetických a algebraických operací. Během svého textu se postupně odklání od matematiky geometrického názoru. Ukazuje, že geometrie mnohde nedokáže sloužit jako rámec aritmetice ani algebře. Několikrát se zmínil o tom, že některé kalkulace dokazují samy sebe a že geometrický, v podstatě eukleidovský přístup, by je brzdil. Tato diplomová práce rovněž obsahuje krátký a stručný popis historického kontextu, ve kterém Stevin působil. Stevin je znám spíše díky svým technologickým inovacím než díky matematické teorii. Věhlas mu získaly práce vztahující se k opevňovacím systémům, drenážím, větrným mlýnům či konstrukce hraček v podobě rychlých vozů poháněných větrem. Pomocí nakloněné roviny rovněž zkoumal možnost perpetua mobile. Naším cílem bylo vytvořit text, který bude sloužit jako vstupní příspěvek k hledání významu tohoto vědce v dějinách matematiky a ke zhodnocení jeho vlivu na matematiku dalších vědců.cs
dc.description.abstract-translatedThis thesis focuses on the French - Czech translation of the mathematical source from the end of the 16th century. It is the first book of the text by Simon Stevin (Dutch scientist and Master of Science born in Bruggy; 1548 - 1620) called L´Arithmétique. The book serves as a textbook of arithmetic and algebra which means that it contains both the definitions of basic terms, marks and symbols, and their explanations. Simon Stevin defined both arithmetic and geometric numbers and illustrated them with geometric figures. He also took these numbers and their quality into consideration. The root of the work begins with the contemplation about the beginning and matter (Aristotle point of view) of the number. Working on this, he wanted to pave the way for the following contemplation and also to start with the description and explanation of arithmetic and algebraic operations. He gradually turns away from mathematics of geometrical opinion. He shows that geometry is neither able to serve as a framework to arithmetic nor to algebra in many cases. He mentions the fact that some of the calculations prove themselves and geometrical, basically Euclidean approach, would limit them. The thesis also includes a short and brief description of the historical context Stevin lived in. Stevin is known more likely for his technological innovations than for mathematical theory. He became famous for his works related to fortification systems, drainages, windmills, or toy constructions in the form of fast wind-powered carriages. He was also carrying out some research on the inclined plane in order to prove the possibility of perpetuum mobile (self-starter). The aim of our work was to create the text serving as an input resource to look for the meaning of this scientist in the history of mathematics and also to evaluate his influence on the following scientists in the field of mathematics.en
