| dc.description.abstract | Práce kriticky zhodnocuje význam struktur baze lební pro odhad pohlaví s využitím souboru 109 CT snímků jihofrancouzské populace při zohlednění správné a spolehlivé diskriminace pohlaví v kontextu specificity pohlavního dimorfismu dané populace. Dále srovnává a interpretuje výsledky s obdobnými studiemi, včetně ověření jejich metod, konkrétně výchozích diskriminačních a regresních funkcí, na souboru předkládané studie. Práce zkoumá, zda oblast foramen magnum a přilehlé anatomické struktury se liší rozměry či tvarem mezi pohlavími, sleduje tedy míru projevu pohlavního dimorfismu. Cíle bylo zjistit, zda lze rozměry či tvar foramen magnum s dostatečnou pravděpodobností správné klasifikace a nízkou mírou chyby využít při odhadu pohlaví pomocí sestavení rovnice vícerozměrné diskriminační funkce nebo logistické regrese. Součástí práce bylo kritické zhodnocení významu oblasti foramen magnum a přilehlých anatomických struktur pro správný a spolehlivý odhad pohlaví ve forenzní a bioarcheologické praxi. | cs |
| dc.description.abstract-translated | Estimation of sex is one of the most important parts of a procedure for the analysis of human skeletal remains in forensic and bioarchaeological context. This study of sexual dimorphism based on 109 CT head scans of the southern French population with defined 13 variables (length, breadth, circumference and area of foramen magnum, length, breadth and height of skull, length of skull base, four indices and shape of foramen magnum outline) showed that classification models we constructed were able to correctly classify a maximum of 74.3 percent of individuals with a probability of misclassifying an unknown individual at least 24.8 percent, while threshold of posterior probability is 0.5. Such methods of sex estimation are unusable in practice. We found that variables chosen for the analysis are sexually dimorphic at least at statistically significant level of 0,05. Nevertheless we must conclude that the classification models based on foramen magnum region are not applicable to forensic practice with the requirement of at least 95% of reliability. Limited opportunities provide only rough estimates of demographics in bioarchaeology. | en |
