dc.description.abstract-translatedThis contribution is focused on a unique issue, which is the theory of just war, the gradual forming of which will be approached through an excursion of the opinions of four important theorists who historically shaped this theory. We also focused on questions that touch on the requirements for a morally justified war, considering the three-category structure of ius ad bellum, ius in bello and ius post bellum. As a result, we find out that just war might have several meanings throughout history, but the aim, to justify wars led by one’s state, remains the same. Moreover, the true importance of a just war lies rather in limitation of damages caused by war through some basic requirements on how to lead a war, than an actual justification of war itself.en
