dc.description.abstract-translatedThe contribution analyses the fatigue failure of steel ČSN 41 1523, focusing on systematically including size and notch effects in fatigue strength assessment. The research is supported by tests on smooth and notched specimens under cyclic loading. It provides a general theoretical background to the investigated issues and the corresponding solution methods, which are then applied in the practical ways. The core approach combines the critical volume concept, representing the size effect, with a method accounting for the stress gradient at the component’s critical location. Together, these tools quantify the relationship between fatigue strength and the factors mentioned above.en
