dc.description.abstractCílem této bakalářské práce je popsat průběh nejdelší bitvy první světové války, bitvu u Verdunuv v roce 1916. První část se zabývá problematikou francouzského stálého opevnění, postaveného kolem města Verdun mezi lety 1871-1914. Poté shrnuje důvody proč německé velení zvolilo toto místo k podniknutí ofenzivy a popisuje události bitvy v kontextu války. Především se ale zaměřuje na samotnou bitvu, zvláště na roli jaku v bojích sehrály francouzské pevnosti.cs
dc.description.abstract-translatedThe aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the course of the longest battle of the First World War, the battle of Verdun in 1916. The first part of the thesis deals with problematics of the French permanent fortifications, built i around the city of Verdun between years 1871-1914. Then it summarizes why the German command chose this place for offensive and describes events of this battle in context of the war. The main focus is on the battle itself, in particular the combat role of French fortifications.en
