| dc.description.abstract-translated | Video game special effects are usually created using sprites or simplistic triangle meshes with added textures, which is a good compromise between performance and quality. This paper presents an implementation of a real-time volumetric explosion effect that aims to enhance realism in video games while seamlessly integrating the volume into a 3D scene, allowing it to interact with the environment. The effect is rendered in a web environment using JavaScript and WebGPU. Our implementation uses ray marching for volume rendering, integrating a transfer function for color mapping, noise functions for adding natural variation, and bloom post-processing to enhance fire illumination. The contribution of this paper is to demonstrate the rendering possibilities and growing support of volumetric special effects for more interactive and immersive web applications and video games. | en |
