dc.description.abstractCílem této práce je analýza první fáze anglické občanské války, která probíhala v letech 1642-1646. Na začátku práce se autor zaměřuje na příčiny občanské války v ekonomickém, náboženském a mocensko-politickém sektoru. Osobní vláda Karla I. narážela na historická práva poddaných, což nakonec vyvrcholilo vojenskými povstáními ve Skotsku, Irsku i Anglii. V hlavní části práce se autor věnuje Biskupským válkám, irskému povstání, a především průběhu první fáze anglické občanské války. Koruně se nepodařilo potlačit povstání ve Skotsku ani Irsku, což anglickému parlamentu umožnilo rušit královská prerogativa. Karel I. nehodlal přihlížet omezování své moci, a proto se odhodlal s parlamentem vojensky vypořádat. Monarchie se rozdělila na podporovatele krále "kavalíry" a zastánce parlamentu "kulatohlavce". Válka v letech 1642-1643 probíhala úspěšně pro krále, jelikož roajalističtí velitelé jako Ruprecht Falcký či Ralph Hopton dokázali pravidelně porážet parlamentariální vojska. Situace se však obrátila následující rok, kdy roajalisté utrpěli katastrofální porážku u Marston Mooru, jež silně podlomila moc krále. Roajalisté však přesto dokázali parlamentární jednotky i nadále porážet. Parlament proto vytvořil profesionální armádu (New Model Army), která pod vedením osvědčených důstojníků, jako byli Oliver Cromwell a Thomas Fairfax, porazila královskou armádu roku 1645 v bitvě u Naseby. Po tomto střetnutí nebyli roajalisté již schopni vzdorovat, a proto se panovník nechal následující rok raději zajmout. Závěr práce rozebírá události po první fázi anglické občanské války a následnou popravu krále Karla I., která definitivně ukončila občanskou válku mezi Korunou a parlamentem.cs
dc.description.abstract-translatedThe aim of this thesis is an analysis of The first English Civil War, which took place in the years 1642-1646. At the beginning of the thesis, the author focuses on the causes of civil war in the economic, religious and power-political sector. The personal rule of Charles I clashed with the historical rights of the subjects of the Crown, which eventually culminated into military uprisings in Scotland, Ireland and England. In the main part of the thesis, the author deals with the Bishops' Wars, the Irish Rebellion, and especially with the first English Civil War. The Crown failed to suppress the uprisings in Scotland or Ireland, allowing the English Parliament to repeal the royal prerogative. Charles I did not intend to observe the limitation of his power, and therefore decided to deal with the Parliament militarily. The monarchy split into supporters of the King the "cavaliers" and supporters of the Parliament the "round-heads". The war in 1642-1643 was successful for the King, as royalist commanders such as Ruprecht of the Rhine and Ralph Hopton were able to regularly defeat parliamentary armies. However, the situation reversed the following year, when the royalists suffered a catastrophic defeat at Marston Moor, which severely undermined the King's power. Nevertheless, the royalists were still able to defeat the parliamentary units. The Parliament therefore created a professional army (New Model Army), which, under the leadership of the experienced officers such as Oliver Cromwell and Thomas Fairfax, defeated the Royal Army in 1645 at the Battle of Naseby. After this battle, the royalists were no longer able to resist, therefore the monarch preferred to be captured the following year. The conclusion of the thesis analyzes the events after the first English Civil War and the subsequent execution of King Charles I, which definitively ended the civil war between the Crown and the Parliament.en
