| dc.description.abstract | Herein, the recent advances in the development of resorbablepolymeric-based biomaterials, their geometrical forms, resorptionmechanisms, and their capabilities in various biomedical applications arecritically reviewed. A comprehensive discussion of the engineeringapproaches for the fabrication of polymeric resorbable scaffolds for tissueengineering, drug delivery, surgical, cardiological, aesthetical, dental andcardiovascular applications, are also explained. Furthermore, to understandthe internal structures of resorbable scaffolds, representative studies of theirevaluation by medical imaging techniques, e.g., cardiac computertomography, are succinctly highlighted. This approach provides crucial clinicalinsights which help to improve the materials’ suitable and viablecharacteristics for them to meet the highly restrictive medical requirements. Finally, the aspects of the legal regulations and the associated challenges intranslating research into desirable clinical and marketable materials ofpolymeric-based formulations, are presented | en |
