dc.description.abstractTato bakalářská práce popisuje britské koloniální působení ve Střední Americe, blíže se zaměřuje na vznik anglických osad na východním středoamerickém pobřeží, kam již během 16. století připlouvali nejen angličtí, ale i nizozemští a francouzští piráti. Přestože většina Střední Ameriky náležela pod suverenitu Španělského království, Angličané si dokázali v 1. polovině 17. století založit osady na území současného státu Belize, kde posléze vznikla kolonie Britský Honduras. Angličané získali vliv i na východním pobřeží dnešní Nikaraguy a Hondurasu, a to skrze navázání obchodních vztahů s původními obyvateli Pobřeží Moskytů, s kmenem Miskitů. První část práce pojednává o charakteru britského kolonialismu, o zájmech Angličanů v Novém světě a o anglickém pirátství. Ve druhé části je popsán příchod prvních Evropanů do středoamerické oblasti a počátky britské přítomnosti ve Střední Americe, tato část zahrnuje i popis vytvoření třech center britského vlivu. Třetí část se již zaměřuje na Britský Honduras, od prvního příchodu Angličanů, zakládání osad, život v osadách, střetávání se a konflikty s jinými středoamerickými aktéry až po dekolonizační proces. Stejnou strukturu sleduje i další, čtvrtá část, jež popisuje vznik britských osad na Pobřeží Moskytů a blíže se zabývá vztahem kmene Miskitů s Angličany. Pátá část se zaměřuje na vztahy Velké Británie a bývalých britských kolonií Střední Ameriky v současnosti, tedy na britské vazby na Belize, Nikaraguou a Hondurasem.cs
dc.description.abstract-translatedThis bachelor thesis is describing the British presence in Central America, it focuses more closely on the arrival of the English and the emergence of English settlements on the east Central American coast, where not only English, but also Dutch and French pirates arrived during the 16th century. Although most of Central America belonged to the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Spain, the English were able to establish settlements in the territory of the present state of Belize in the first first half of the 17th century, where the colony of British Honduras was eventually established. The English also gained influence on the east coast of present-day Nicaragua and Honudras through the establishment of trade relations with the indigenous people of the Mosquito Coast, with the Miskit tribe. The first part of the thesis deals with the nature of British colonialism, the interests of the English in the New World and English piracy. The second part describes the arrival of the first Europeans in the Central American region and the beginnings of the British presence in Central America, this part also includes a description of the creation of three centers of British influence. The third part already focuses on British Honduras, from the first arrival of the English, the establishment of settlements, life in settlements, clashes and conflicts with other Central American actors to the decolonization process. The same structure is followed by another, fourth part, which describes the emergence of British settlements on the Mosquito Coast and deals with the relationship of the Miskit tribe with the English. The fifth part focuses on the relations of Great Britain and the former British colonies of Central America in the present, that is on the British ties to Belize, Nicaragua and Honduras.en
