dc.description.abstract-translatedThis paper explores how the EU Court of Justice handles the multilingual nature of EU law. Focusing on a narrow, one-yar window of the CoJ case-law, it outlines three pathways for future, more in-depth study. One, basic statistical exploration of how often the Court deals explicitly with multilingual issues; as well as possible further exploration of the interplay between final judgements and advocate-general opinions in those cases. Two, more in-depth exploration into which advocates general (as the first part showed they are much more likely to than the Court itself) metion this issue and in what contexts. Three, a qualitative analysis of how the issue of multilinguism is used to shape the final judgement. It appears, from this preliminary outline, that the multilingual nature of EU law drives the court away from the text itself in its pursuit of harmony in these spheres of justice.en
