dc.description.abstract-translatedPodoli swimming stadium is exceptional in its location and landscape. It is located in a former quarry where limestone was mined. Thanks to this environment, the place is very private. The author of the stadium realized this advantage and developed an excellent architectural concept. At the time of choosing the subject of my diploma thesis, I lived in Prague near Vysehrad. I visited the Podoli swimming pool several times at that time. I have always been confronted with the differences between the quality of the architecture and its care unsparing reconstructions, visual smog, confusing information and orientation system, removal of original quality elements. The concept of the stadium is a reflection of quality Czech architecture and construction, which we should rightly be proud of and which we should take care of. In December 2020, the swimming pool in Podoli became a official Czech cultural heritage. The book is divided into 9 chapters that describe the context of the realization of the pool and describe the individual objects together with the works of art that are inside. The chapters also contain points of interest and a view of the current state. The goal is to break the building out of the box of negatively perceived communist architecture.en
