dc.description.abstract-translatedThe study focuses on the Temporary Protection Directive, activated for the first time on March 4, 2022, in response to the Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine. Within this context, the Council’s directive assumes a crucial role in guiding European Union states through the subsequent mass influx of refugees. The initial chapter scrutinizes the legal underpinnings of temporary protection, revealing its alignment with various international treaties and European legal standards. The ensuing section explores key facets of the Directive, setting forth minimum standards for individuals affected by displacement. The author recognizes the dynamic and multifaceted nature of the EU’s legal framework for temporary protection, offering a robust response to the challenges of mass displacement. Emphasis is placed on safeguarding fundamental rights and the well-being of displaced individuals. Temporary protection, as outlined, not only complements existing frameworks but serves as a crucial emergency mecha nism, alleviating the strain on member states’ asylum systems. In essence, the Temporary Protection Directive serves as a pivotal instrument, seamlessly inte grating legal, humanitarian, and operational dimensions to effectively address large-scale displacement in uni-factorial crisis situations.en
