Knitted Bow-Tie Frequency Resonators with Hybrid Conductive Threads for Wearable Strain Monitoring

Abstract

This paper presents the development of knitted frequency resonators designed for strain monitoring in wearable e-textile applications. These textile frequency resonators, knitted from basic 100 % cotton and conductive hybrid yarns, are suitable for e-textiles. Frequency resonators were designed as bow-tie antennas and are stretchable thanks to the knitted structure. Electrical parameters change due to the elongation of the conductive structure; this causes a shift in the resonant frequency. The resonant frequency decreases as a function of elongation.
