dc.description.abstract-translatedThe right to know one‘s origins is a fundamental human right that includes the right of every individual to know who his or her parents, ancestors and genetic family in general are. This study explores the key topic of international agreements that protect the right to know one‘s origin. This is particularly important in connection with the Czech Republic, which faces repeated inspections by the UN due to reservations to Article 7 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. This work fills an insufficiently researched gap in the field of legal research, revealing specific areas of influence of international agreements in protecting the right to know one‘s origin. Using a mixed method approach, the study examines the provisions of these agreements, with an emphasis on their impact on society in the area of the right to know one‘s origin. The study reveals the complex relationship between the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the European Convention on Human Rights, provides insights into different approaches and nuances of the influence of reservations, thus providing key insights into the protection of this fundamental right.en
